Men's Mental Health Matters

The month of November is dedicated to men's health. This is also necessary, as gender is decisive for health and life expectancy: on average, men have a life expectancy that is six years lower than that of women. Men are more frequently affected by mental illness and three quarters of all suicides are committed by men.

The reason for this is that men are less willing to seek help and often do not recognize when they have a problem with their mental health. Certain stereotypes of masculinity also aggravate the problem, which is why both physical and mental health are not a high enough priority for men. That has to change!

The month of November should serve to sensitize and create awareness for men's health.
